Myositis is a term used to describe a group of unusual illnesses that cause muscles to become weak, weary, and painful. Myositis is simply muscular inflammation. When anything is inflammatory, swelling can occur. Myositis can affect people of any age, including youngsters. The muscles in the shoulders, hips, and thighs are the most impacted. Other parts of the body, such as the skin, lungs, and heart, can be affected by myositis. Myositis can sometimes cause injury to the muscles that control breathing and swallowing. Myositis is categorized into several types. The two most common types are polymyositis and dermatomyositis. The word poly means "many." Polymyositis is distinguished by the presence of inflammation in several muscles. This type has little to no effect on other parts of the body.
